LCC – Architecture: Guest Speaker – Sharon Tenenbaum
The Architecture/Urban Landscape Group is very excited to welcome Vancouver-based Architectural Photographer Sharon Tenebaum to this Webex-only meeting. As her website describes it, Ms. Tenebaum "aspires to show reality in a different way, creating images rather than capturing them." She was educated as a Civil Engineer, and therefore, her "love for structures is reflected in a vast body of work that celebrates more than mere architecture, but rather, the Art of Architecture." To see examples of Ms. Tenebaum's work, we invite you to visit her website at sharontenenbaum.com.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Seeing Differently - Creating More Interesting Compositions The challenge in photography is to take a scene that is visible to anyone who cares to look and present it in a uniquely artistic way. With every photograph I make, I attempt to rise to that challenge. It’s all about seeing the world differently, where even the most mundane subjects can be turned into works of art. In this seminar, join me as I explore the processes I use to create some of my landscape, macro and natural abstract images using various compositional strategies and the amazing features of my camera gear. Speaker – André Gallant “Beyond the Image: Creative Photography as Self-Expression”
André Gallant is a nature and fine art photographer whose work explores light, atmosphere, and the emotional connection between people and the natural world. Drawn to creative techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), multiple exposures, and minimalism, he uses photography not only to interpret landscapes but to express feeling and tell deeply personal stories. Following the loss of his partner, Parker, photography became an important part of André’s journey through grief, helping him find moments of beauty, reflection, and healing. His images are often accompanied by thoughtful captions, haiku, and journal entries that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and see beyond the obvious. Beyond the Image: Creative Photography as Self-Expression Photography is more than recording what we see—it is a way of expressing how we experience the world. In this presentation, André Gallant shares how moving beyond traditional photography opened new creative possibilities through Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), multiple exposures, and a minimalist approach to composition. More than a demonstration of techniques, this presentation explores how creative photography can become a powerful form of personal expression. André will discuss developing a creative vision, embracing experimentation, and discovering that some of his most meaningful images emerged when he stopped trying to document a scene and instead began expressing what he felt. Along the way, he reflects on how photography became a source of comfort, purpose, and healing through grief, transforming both his images and his way of seeing.
