SUMMARY:Speaker - Michele Sons "The Art of Fog" - this meeting will not be recorded
DESCRIPTION:Michele Sons is a fine art landscape and nature photographer\, writer\, and educator based in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia\, with clients including National Geographic\, The Wilderness Society\, Appalachian Trail Conservancy\, Smokies Life\, Eastern National\, and other non-profits that serve our nation’s national parks. Her work tends toward quiet\, pared-down\, subtle representations of her deep reverence for the natural world. Fog\, mist\, and soft light are intrinsic elements present in many of her images. Michele’s uniquely nomadic background\, advanced degrees in environmental biology and physical geography\, and a 20-year corporate career in spatial analysis provide a personal perspective that informs her creative focus on connection and expression. Michele empowers creative outdoor photographers to find meaningful connections with nature and grow in their artistry. The Art of Place is Michele’s holistic education resource for landscape and nature photographers\, encompassing the entirety of the art and craft of photography. Through her eBooks\, private online mentoring\, and private field workshops\, Michele shares her unique approach to expressive image making. Learn how to connect with the natural world and express yourself confidently and creatively. Michele also teaches regularly at online and in-person conferences across the United States. \n \nThe Art of Fog \nJoin me in the fog! Together\, we will explore the magic of this moody weather phenomenon. Spanning both art and science\, The Art of Fog will review selected topics such as: the types of fog and the meteorological elements necessary for formation\, forecasting tools\, symbolism and the ways in which its emotional and visual effects on the landscape can inject mood\, and a case study in applying this knowledge in the field. Inspirational images will be included throughout the presentation. After this session you will have a deeper understanding of fog\, and more importantly\, a greater appreciation of how you can employ it as a powerful artistic element to inject mood into your expressive photography. Adapted from my eBook The Art of Fog: A Primer for Expressive Landscape & Nature Photography in Fog.

SUMMARY:Speaker - André Gallant "Beyond the Image: Creative Photography as Self-Expression"
DESCRIPTION:André Gallant is a nature and fine art photographer whose work explores light\, atmosphere\, and the emotional connection between people and the natural world.  Drawn to creative techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)\, multiple exposures\, and minimalism\, he uses photography not only to interpret landscapes but to express feeling and tell deeply personal stories. Following the loss of his partner\, Parker\, photography became an important part of André’s journey through grief\, helping him find moments of beauty\, reflection\, and healing. His images are often accompanied by thoughtful captions\, haiku\, and journal entries that invite viewers to pause\, reflect\, and see beyond the obvious. \n \nBeyond the Image: Creative Photography as Self-Expression \nPhotography is more than recording what we see—it is a way of expressing how we experience the world. In this presentation\, André Gallant shares how moving beyond traditional photography opened new creative possibilities through Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)\, multiple exposures\, and a minimalist approach to composition. More than a demonstration of techniques\, this presentation explores how creative photography can become a powerful form of personal expression. André will discuss developing a creative vision\, embracing experimentation\, and discovering that some of his most meaningful images emerged when he stopped trying to document a scene and instead began expressing what he felt. Along the way\, he reflects on how photography became a source of comfort\, purpose\, and healing through grief\, transforming both his images and his way of seeing. \n  \nWebsite: www.andregallant.com \nInstagram: andregallant2222 \nFacebook: Andre Gallant \n

DESCRIPTION:The Architecture/Urban Landscape Group is very excited to welcome Vancouver-based Architectural Photographer Sharon Tenebaum to this Webex-only meeting. As her website describes it\, Ms. Tenebaum “aspires to show reality in a different way\, creating images rather than capturing them.”  She was educated as a Civil Engineer\, and therefore\, her “love for structures is reflected in a vast body of work that celebrates more than mere architecture\, but rather\, the Art of Architecture.” \nTo see examples of Ms. Tenebaum’s work\, we invite you to visit her website at sharontenenbaum.com.

SUMMARY:Speaker: Monique Campbell "Travelling in the Street"
DESCRIPTION:Monique Campbell has been a photographer for 35 plus years after graduating from the Western Pacific Academy of Photography in Victoria\, British Columbia in 1992. Her career as \na photojournalist and wedding photographer has given her a foundation in capturing candid and camera aware images. She started to do street photography after she discovered the work of master Vivian Maier. Since 2016\, Monique has photographed in Hamilton where she lives\, nationally\, and internationally. Most of her images capture ordinary moments of everyday life. She thrills at photographing a wide spectrum of people that she encounters on the streets especially women. Her award-winning work has been exhibited\, collected and published locally and around the world. \n \nTravelling in the Street \nMonique Campbell has been a professional photographer for over 35 years. Two of her passions are making humanist street images and traveling within Canada and abroad. In her new presentation\, she discusses how to plan a photographic trip and make photographic memories based on her experiences photographing in London\, England\, Portugal\, Cuba\, Italy\, and the wonders of the world like Niagara Falls\, Ontario. One of the highlights will be her images and stories from her visit to Ireland in 2026 as she followed in the footsteps of Dorthea Lange. The master photographer photographed the locals in Ennis\, County Clare\, in 1954. This motivated Monique to connect with the community and make new images. Members will be inspired to include people in their photography on their next vacation. \n  \nWebsite: www.momentsbymonique.com \nInstagram: moments_by_monique \n

SUMMARY:Speaker: Monika Deviat "Fundamentals of Night Photography"
DESCRIPTION:Monika Deviat is an internationally published photographer and Nikon Canada Ambassador based in Alberta\, Canada. She is not just a photographer\, though. Monika is a metalhead\, speaker and educator\, pole and aerial athlete and instructor\, hiking guide\, and non-practicing physicist. Her photography career started in darkness – capturing the energy of concerts and events. She has travelled across North America and even on International Waters to shoot heavy metal shows and festivals. In 2015\, Monika shifted from shooting stars on stage to stars in the sky. Photographing the Milky Way inspired her to start doing landscape photography and led her to hike and scramble in the Canadian Rockies. She spends a lot of time hauling ridiculous amounts of gear up mountains to shoot the night sky. Spending hours alone beneath a star-filled sky is one of Monika’s favourite places to be – and it’s what first sparked her interest in dark sky preservation. Through her photography and education\, she advocates for protecting dark skies and safeguarding the wild places where they can still be experienced. Monika’s photography does not fit into a single niche\, and she shows her versatility\, technical skills\, and creative eye across multiple photography genres. Beyond photography\, Monika is an engaging educator\, leading workshops that blend knowledge-sharing with memorable experiences. \n  \nFundamentals of Night Photography \nLearn the foundations of night photography from gear considerations to settings and manual focusing tips for stars. Monika will break down technical aspects to make this challenging genre easier to delve into. She will also go over some information for planning Milky Way and Aurora Borealis images – two of her favourite night sky subjects. \n  \nWebsite: monikadeviatphotography.com \nInstagram: monikadeviat \nFacebook: monikadeviatphotography
